'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the opposition who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It seems as if they always find their target and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without much intensity. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs encounters against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
