Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A senior official said the incident left him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
